Watt-a-Lamp

A dimming night table lamp with power outlets

The brief ?
Living in a cozy New York City apartment, I quickly learned that space is a luxury and outlets are a rare commodity. With just one outlet in my bedroom, I often found myself in a tug-of-war between needing to charge my phone and wanting to read under the warm glow of a lamp. Let alone the fact that is hard to reach it. This daily frustration sparked an idea: Why not combine the two in the smallest possible footprint? So, I set out myself  to come up with a simple concept to solve that.
For the electrical parts I wanted to use mainly Off-the-shelf components that I could find easily, so in case I break something, it's easy and cheap to replace. My requirements :
- Use as many Off-the-shelf internals as possible
- Minimal footprint
- At least one USB-Type C
- Must have a normal power outlet
- Must be able to dim and have a warm feel
- Cord Length should be a minimum of 3 meters

The result was a compact night table lamp that also serves as an extension cord with multiple outlet types, maximizing functionality while minimizing footprint.
